Where to have lunch in Farringdon Part 5

I feel like it's been a while since I did one of these, the struggle to find new places is getting harder, fewer new spots are opening and I can't help returning to my old favourites but Farringdon is a big place and I've still got a list of places I need to visit.

Apres Food Co.

Aprés Food Co. is a new lunch location in Farringdon that specialises in healthy and wholesome lunches. The menu is packed full of comfort food classics with an emphasis on low fat cooking. My plate of meatballs and pasta was absolutely delicious, however I did think it was a little on the expensive side considering the portion size. That being said, this is a lovely little lunch spot with a great selection of hot and cold treats that I'm sure to visit again.

Breddos Tacos

Breddos Tacos is one of my favourite lunch spots in Farringdon. It's a little bit of a walk from my office but the best tacos I've ever had makes it worth while. The deep fried chicken and fish tacos are fantastic, but in all honesty, everything on the menu is delicious. Even the free salsa and chips you get to nibble on while pouring over the menu are great. I love the vibe of this place but it can get busy so make sure you get down early.

Foxlow, Clerkenwell

I visited Foxlow one Saturday quite a while ago and have yet to make it back. Not because I didn't enjoy my meal, I loved it, but because there's quite a few in London now so the appeal has diminished a little. From the founders of Hawksmoor, this neighborhood bistro serves well cooked British classics, from steak, to fried chicken, as well as tasty salads and mouth watering brunch options.

Maya Cafe

Sometimes it's nice to have breakfast for lunch, and the best greasy spoon around is Maya Cafe. With a ton of different options this is a cheap and cheerful place to grab a fry up. I always get the same thing because I'm boring like that, #noregrets.

Risotto stall on Exmouth Market

I can't remember the name but the stall on Exmouth Market that sells risotto is fantastic for a takeaway lunch. With two options, mushrooms (no thank you), and chorizo (yes please) it's good for veggies and meat eaters alike. The portions are huge and really worth the £5 price tag. On a cold, drizzly day when I really want comfort food I love this stall.

J+A Cafe

J+ A Cafe is lovely lunch time spot, specialising in Irish food. The menu, whilst not the cheapest place around, is packed full with hearty sandwiches, and big plates of hot food. Think Irish stew, wheaten bread, and lots of potatoes. There's a great sweet selection as well. Despite my family being from Ireland I don't get to eat much traditional Irish food these days so J+A is a nice please to relive a little of my heritage.

  1. Totally agree about risotto being one of the best comfort foods. Shaun Keaveney calls it 'a hug in a bowl' - so true.
