Blogger Christmas Cocktail Party

Photobucket

So the lovely Sarah has invited a bunch of bloggers to a one and only Christmas party extravaganza. The rules are simple; we all have to wear one designer and one high street outfit. The designer outfit was easy for me, I am a frequent Net-a-porter shopper and no outfit can be considered party acceptable unless it costs in access of £2000. The high street outfit was more difficult as I don't know where the plebs shop these days. I hear Topshop is popular so I reluctantly chose some cheap items there. I can't believe you can buy a dress for £50, especially when the wine I'll be drinking at the party will cost triple the amount if not more but I suppose it's important to see how the other side live once in a while!

Christmas Party Designer Outfit
Anna Sui tulle dress, £440
MICHAEL Michael Kors michael kors coat, $357
Miu Miu patent leather high heels, $455
Alexander mcqueen handbag, £995

A party outfit isn't a party outfit with some sparkles and this fun flapper girl style dress fits the bill perfectly. Because it's Christmas I thought some red shoes are a must and of course you'll need some fur to keep you warm when hoping in and out of taxis. Alexander McQueen skull clutches are a favourite of mine and this edgy animal print style is just enough pattern to make the outfit a little more party proof!

Christmas Party High Street
TopShop sequin evening dress, £49
TopShop cable sock, $12
TopShop high heel shoes, £100
ASOS feather handbag, $45

Another sequin dress but a much lower price this time, I love the detail from the Peter Pan collar and the shape means it'll be perfectly for impressing your boss at the office party... Big chunky silver shoes worn with cute red socks will definitely make you feel festive and finished off with a feather clutch for added texture will add another layer of interest to the outfit.

Why don't you check out what the other girls are wearing:

Dresses and blazer from BooHoo
Creeper brogues from ASOS

Absolutely ages ago I was invited to the BooHoo press day but I couldn't make it so the lovely folks gifted me with a £50 voucher to spend on the website. After much deliberation I finally choose 2 dresses and a blazer. BooHoo isn't somewhere I'd shopped before, I heard of it of course but had never got round to purchasing anything. They sell lots of cute dresses and the best thing is the prices, cheap as chips some would say. However, don't let the cheapness fool you into thinking their clothes are of a sub standard quality. I was really startled by the quality of the blazer, it's durable, comfortable and well made. The dresses are thick cotton and excluding the horrible plastic belts that came with them I am genuinely delighted. The whole experience has definitely made me want to shop there again. Thank you very much BooHoo!

Have you shopped at BooHoo x

Went to the Yuki press evening the other week with the lovely Lily and Sophie. There were lots of party dresses on show but it was the woolly jumpers that really stood out for me. I love the coral shirt too, I'm definitely considering buying it because of the beautiful back detail. We got to munch on delicious cupcakes and deadly Midori cocktails too, plus the goody bag contents were pretty sweet. You can also get 15% off any item from the Yuki website with the code BOW152011 so nab yourself something pretty before December 31st.

Big Furry Coat

Top, leather skirt and velvet leggings from Topshop
Faux fur coat c/o Motel
Loafers from Office

When I attended the Motel Rocks bloggers evening a few weeks back we were all allowed to select one item from the AW11 range. I choose this gorgeous faux fur coat because it's the perfect for the cold weather as well as adding a bit of Hollywood glam to an outfit. I really like all the different textures in this outfit; leather, velvet and fur - to me that's what winter is about, mixing everything up. Thank you Motel for this gorgeous coat, I love it!

This weekend as been a busy affair. On Friday night it was my work's Christmas party. The theme of Viva Las Vegas and I wore my good old black velvet Topshop dress because my New Look order didn't turn up in time! Yesterday I went to the Degas and the Ballet exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. Despite the price being a little over the top I loved the simple charcoal sketches and the way Degas caught the movement of the dancers. After that we wandered around Regents Street which was closed to traffic for the weekend (along with Oxford Street) before heading to The Diner on Carnaby Street for a late lunch. The food was delicious! I bought some film from Lomography and some macaroons from Laudree in Burlington Arcade which I am yet to eat. In the evening we headed east to Cafe El Paso to watch some pop punk bands. Today has been about catching up with telly with a spot of running to break up the laziness. A great weekend!

Christmas patterns

Shirt from Monki
Snowflake jacket and pumps from Topshop

This is definitely the one time of the year that you can wear ridiculous patterns and not feel like a fool. To be fair, I wear stupid patterns a lot of the year and Christmas time is just an excuse to dress with even more novelty! I love this jacket to bits, considering it's knitted and doesn't have any buttons down the front it is seriously warm and snugly in the ultra cold temperatures. I've been wearing it with everything from pretty dresses to loud shirts like this one.

Last night I saw Hamlet with Michael Sheen at the Young Vic and tonight I'm seeing The Veil at the National Theatre. I love all the shows going on in December. Last week I saw Matilda the Musical which was AMAZING! Next week I'm seeing Uncaged Monkeys and the week after I'm seeing Reasons to be Pretty with Billie Piper. I quite want to see Haunted Child at the Royal Court too. You could say I'm just a little busy...

Do you wear crazy patterns at this time of year x

Birthday things

Just a few things I got for my birthday or bought myself with vouchers. This is my first ever Chanel lipstick and it's a gorgeous colour. It's called Enthusiast and it's the perfect red/orange shade. I love Coco Mademoiselle and this is now my second bottle. After testing a sample of double wear for the past month or so I finally took the plunge and bought myself a bottle, it's expensive but worth it! My friend K bought me this little tower of boxes, they're so cute and I'm using them to store bits of jewellery. The nail varnish and lip balm are from T, both are lovely!

What beauty bits have you bought recently x

Space age

Bowler hat, jumper and brogues from ASOS
Skirt from H&M
Space leggings from Topshop

These leggings are amazing, I love the galaxy print. A while ago I bought a pair of Black Milk galaxy print leggings but I somehow managed to loose them before I'd even worn them. Considering they cost almost £50 this was not my finest hour as I'm usual very careful with my possessions but somewhere on my journey to Northern Ireland this summer they appear to have gone astray! I spotted these Topshop beauties last week and at half the price of the Black Milk pair they're a friendly addition to the wardrobe.

With a pair of leggings as wacky as these I thought it was best to keep the rest of my outfit low key and take out the blue and grey to accent the design.

Do you like galaxy print x

Last week I checked out the New Look SS12 press day and my gosh I was taken aback by the clothes. I've always liked New Look but sometimes found the clothes could be a bit on the dull side and immature side. Maybe that was down to what was stocked in my local store but after seeing the new collection up close and personal I am so excited for this to come out in the shops. There were colours and patterns galore and lots of different themes including Africa, romantic and fluro. I saw lots of things that would be perfect for the festival season, beach holidays and date nights. I particularly loved the two tone dress and blouse and will definitely be trying to snap these up come new year.

We were kindly gifted with a £50 in the goody bags and I've bought a party dress, shirt and festive headband AND I've still got a tenner left so thank you very much for that New Look. Hopefully the parcel will arrive before Friday so I can wear the dress and take some photos.

What do you think of the SS12 collection x
