Feeling blue, clothes

Not feeling depressed in case you were wondering but embracing the colour instead. I couldn't resist buying this dress; the colour is lush and the lace is lovely plus it's really comfortable. The dress is pretty short though and I'm not even that tall but I'm not complaining, I like my skirts on the short side.

I wore this yesterday on one of my many London adventures. I went over to Hoxton to see the Friedrich Kunath exhibition at the White Cube Gallery. Below was my favourite painting from the exhibition, I love the use of colour. You know when you stand in front of a picture in a gallery and you can see your reflection on the picture? Well your shadow completes the headless man in the middle of this picture thus us the onlooker completes the painting. I like that.

I stopped for a cheeky but delicious brownie in the Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen before heading over to the gallery's second site in Piccadilly to visit the Georg Baselitz exhibition. This was my favourite image but I can't find a big enough picture to put on here so a link will have to suffice. One of the interesting things about this collection were how the paintings were all displayed upside down.

Despite the terrible rain I had a lovely day out visiting some new places. I popped into Fortnum and Mason on the way home to pick up some marmalade for Dad, cranberry sauce for Mum and a bottle of Fluff for little sister H and I.

  2. Blue really is your colour, I love how it works with pale skin and your shoes are lovely! The artworks are so interesting, I liked your theory of if you stand infront of it the stranger becomes you therefore completing the work, nice observation. I couldn't resist this dress either, I haven't had a chance to wear it yet though, if I wear it around these ends it might be considered 'too dressy' that's what I like about London, you can wear what you please and no one makes a fuss!

  7. Haha very true, I'm studying fine art and I asked one of my lecturers - 'Do artists just create art for themselves? with no meaning behind it, no theoretical nonesense but just because they like it?' and he looked down and shook his head whilst saying - 'There is always theory behind art. Artists never make work because 'they like it'. To be honest I reckon he was talking bollocks, I've made work out of boredom, because I just wanted to! (Not that I'm compaing myself to any of the big shot artists). There are students in my class who hardly turn up to lessons but they're extreamly confident and talk complete bullshit to get their grades. Fair play to them but it's kind of made me dislike the industry, which leaves me in limbo into what I'd like to do in the future. Although the ones who talk bollocks are usually the ones who want to be artists for the fame and fortune! Sorry about the long reply, I tend to drift off :P

  15. Looks like a great day out to me, just my cup of tea to be honest! I like the idea of the audience completing the picture- was that the artists intent or was it just an observation?

Also loving the blue dress. I tried it on and loved it but had to walk away...though they now do it in red! Oooh!
