Quickie

Just a quickie today because a. I'm exhausted and b. I've exceeded my monthly bandwidth on photobucket so I'm having to upload my pictures via blogger until I can sort it all out!.

This morning I took part in the Clapham Common 5K series and I'm delighted to say that I ran the whole distance without stopping. I'm not sure of my exact time yet but it's under 35minutes which is what I was hoping for (EDIT - 34.35.6mins woo). It was bloody hard work and my legs and feet killed afterwards (blisters too) but I'm so glad I didn't stop! I've only been running for 2 months now and I'm completely thrilled by how much my fitness has improved. My next race will be 10K in July so I've still got a lot of training to do but this was the perfect practice. If you had told me a few months ago that I'd be a long distance runner by the summer I would have died with shock but I'm really enjoying it now so here's to more (longer) races.

After the race I chilled at home for an hour and then went to get my hair done. My roots were in a dire state and my cut was overgrown. I've had a massive dose of ash toner to give the blonde that grey colour which I love. As for the cut, I've had a fair bit chopped off the right side and the bottom so it's really asymetric. I love to have volume at the top and a sweeping side fringe so I'm super happy with it. Frankie always does an amazing job =)

I had my nails painted in an Aztec print on Tursday at the Flash Paradise event (more on that another day) but they are now sadly chipping.

Also, on Friday I had a job interview at Syngenta in Bracknell and before I had even got home they rang me up offering me the job! Of course I took it and as of May 31st I will be working as an eco toxicologist which I'm super excited about. I'm hoping to move to Reading as it's the nearest 'decent' city to work so I'm on the look out for the perfect 1 bedroom flat. I'm really looking forward to moving out and starting my new job but I'm also scared, however I think that's all part of the process so I'm sure I'll be fine.

How was your weekend x

Carluccios

I like food and one of my favourites is Italian and by Italian I mean fresh pasta, cured meats and hearty salads NOT pizza! Pizza is delicious at the best of times but for me it's fast food and not really anything special. Living in London I'm fortunate to be surrounded by many great independent restaurants which for me always win over the chains. However there is one Italian (non pizza) chain I love and it is Carluccios.

There is a Carluccios in Putney by the Thames and it's a lovely place to have lunch as long as you can ignore all the screaming babies!! They do a pretty good meal deal too; a starter and main for just under a tenner. So not only do you get a delicious lunch but you don't have to break the bank doing it.

Another thing I love about Carluccios is their little Italian supermarket inside the restaurant. It sells all sorts of Italian breads, oils, meats, salads, sweets, sauces and pastas. They also sell the most adorable chocolate brownies shaped as teddy bears.

Last time I went I enjoyed the tomato and rocket bruschetta for starter and the ricotta and spinach ravioli for main. Because I've been so many times I've sampled a lot of the menu including the focaccia, antipasto di verdure, peperoni e caprino (goats cheese salad), linguine al frutti di mare (seafood linguine), lasagna tradizionale, tortelloni di cervo (venison tortellini) and milanese di pollo (chicken in breadcrumbs) to name but a few. They also do great specials such as risotto and I've honestly never had a bad meal there.

Do you like Italian x

I can do smart

Sometimes, much to my parents delight, I dress up all smart. I've really got into trousers at the moment which is probably why I ended up going for that whole androgynous look.

Shirt and trousers from ASOS
Socks and brogues from Topshop
Belt from Primark
Necklace from Maria Allen

I bought this shirt a while back with a groupon and I love the oversized shape of it, including the 2 big pockets on the front. The trousers were a sale purchase and I really like the chino vibe of them. I also thought the pink socks would add a fun pop of colour to an otherwise muted colour palette. This is the sort of outfit I'd definitely wear to work if I had a job which required me to look smart etc. I actually have a job interview on Friday and I really hope I get it so keep your fingers crossed for me =)
