Poping and Blocking

Was rocking a serious case of the colour blocking trend the other day. I just love clashing colours and there's nothing better than pink, orange and red! With summer is full bloom (or so it seems) it's the perfect excuse to wear summery bright clothing whilst enjoying a Hummingbird Bakery black bottom cupcake =)

Everything from H&M

Pretty ridiculous photos eh? I guess the sun brings out the craziness in me but FYI that cupcake was delicious so you can't blame my scoffy face! My friend T gave me this ring bless her. I'd seen her wearing it but could never find it in H&M so she decided to give me her one which was very sweet of her. I'm actually going back to visit her in Leamington Spa again in the middle of May and I can't wait.

In other news I bought a couple pairs of clogs from the Swedish Hasbeens x H&M collection including this mega cute red pair. HOWEVER, last night I discovered that they were actually falling apart and since I'd only put them on to take these photos I was not best impressed. Today I got up bright and earlier to mission it back to H&M where I was lucky enough to find the last size 7 pair and get them replaced, phew! I'll also show you the other pair I picked up in the next day or so but if you're too impatient you can check them out on my Tumblr.

I'm off work till Tuesday now which is very exciting because I just love a long weekend. I've got plenty of running to get on with in preparation for my up coming 5K and I'm going to some crazy noise gig in Camden tonight after a Nandos dinner. Apart from that I'm not really sure what else I'll get up to but I'm definitely going to make the most of these few days off and not just waste them pottering about at home. Maybe have a BBQ and watch the new episode of Doctor Who tomorrow!

Happy Easter x

Chris Nash

Went to the V&A yesterday to check out the Cult of Beauty exhibition. To be honest I didn't really rate it and thought the 7 quid student discount ticket was a massive rip off! It's all about the Aesthetic Movement in the 19th Century and showcased lots of decadent oil painting which aren't really my cup of tea but I did enjoy seeing the wallpaper samples, fashion and furniture.

I also visited the Chris Nash exhibition in the theatre and performance gallery. Nash is a dance photographer and his work is really interesting. I really like the way he captures the different movements and colours involved with dance.

I also spotted this cute little pin in the jewellery section.

After the museum I popped along to the Hummingbird Bakery for some red velvet cupcakes making my afternoon perfect.

Yesterday evening I went to the National Theatre for a late night Q and A with Danny Boyle, Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch about Frankenstein. It was a nice finish to the series of platforms we'd been to surrounding the play. There were lots of interesting discussions about being naked on stage, playing two roles and why the Creature was the main focus. All in all it was a fantastic evening.

Do you have plans for Easter x

Yellow tights

On Sunday I mentioned that I was off to the Royal Albert Hall with my family for a night of celebratory music so this is a kinda of take 2 'dressing for the evening' version of my outfit from that post. I basically threw a jumper on a some coloured tights to keep warm. Because my tights were yellow everyone was joking that I looked jaundice hence the name of this post. Me being me I ripped the tights are soon as we left the house so now that are unwearable much to my disappointment because I kind of liked having yellow legs.

Jumper from ASOS
Top and skirt from Topshop
Wedges from Roxy
Necklace from Zara Taylor

I like how this jumper is cropped and thin knit, makes it perfect for wearing on summer evenings as it isn't too heavy. Plus letting the Peter Pan collar of my tunic underneath stick out is a nice addition of detail to an other wise plain top. Kind of doing the whole colour blocking thing here I suppose which I like because I'm a big fan of colour!

The music that evening was wonderful and we had incredible seats, our own semi private box to be exact. You would have recognised all the different songs and even though I was initially apprehensive about the whole evening, I'm glad I went because it was really fun. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra were completely amazing and the Royal Choral Society sounded beautiful plus the conductor Anthony Inglis was really funny

I love how decadent the Royal Albert Hall is. Everything is red and gold and the organ at the back of the stage is just enormous. The acoustic discs on the ceiling are really interesting to look at and because of the venue is dome shaped you get a great view of everything. Definitely a top family outing this time.

Do you go to events with your family often x
