HOTEL REVIEW: Bread and Butter, Bruges

Last year I took Steve to Bruges as a surprise birthday present. When I was looking for accommodation I couldn't find any boutique hotels that matched my style so I changed my search to bed and breakfasts, that's when I came across the wonderful Bread and Butter.

Situated on the top floor of a traditional terraced house, our room was absolutely stunning complete with vintage wallpaper, an enormous orange bath tub, a mezzanine level for relaxing and lots of beautiful hand sourced trinkets. Without a doubt this is one of the most loveliest places I have ever stayed!

The couple who own the BnB are absolutely lovely and so welcoming, there's only one room to rent in their house so make sure you book it well in advance. Our room was really spacious, the bed was enormous and there was even a desk area. However, the best thing was the bathroom and the amazing orange tub.

This was the funkiest bath tub I've ever seen, an original 60s piece with so much character. You can slide down really deep and enjoy the hot bubbles. I love that the bathroom has a chair so someone can talk to you whilst you wash, lovely. There isn't a proper shower but when you've got a bath this cool who cares about that!

In the bathroom you'll find a staircase leading to the fantastic mezzanine level.

The mezzanine level is the perfect spot to relax and watch a little telly, or spy on someone whilst they're in the bath...

I loved our two night stay at Bread and Butter, the place is absolutely charming and well worth €100 a night. I wish I'd taken a picture of breakfast as it was really impressive and included delicious Belgium chocolate.

The room is definitely designed for couples as there isn't much privacy in terms of the bathroom, although the doors do shut and there are blinds. My one issue is that the toilet is on a different floor so if you need the loo in the middle of the night you have to sneak downstairs which is a little annoying. However this is a minor issue in what is otherwise a perfect bed and breakfast.

In terms of location Bread and Butter is only a 15 minute walk from the main square, and is located around the corner from the main canal. There's even a bus stop at the end of the road so you can get to the train station really quickly.

If I'm ever back in Bruges, which I hope to be as it's lovely, I will definitely be staying here again.
