Hats away

Had a relaxing day off yesterday shopping on High Street Ken and enjoying a family lunch. Even thought it wasn't anything special I decided to dress up a little bit and wear my new BOWLER HAT! I've wanted a bowler for ages and had this one in my saved ASOS list for what seems like forever. It went into the sale so I finally decided to purchase it along with this blouse and ring.

I really love this outfit and was definitely inspired by Carrie when I was putting it together. Hats are big news at the minute and I think they just make an outfit more fun. I have my eye on a Topshop Boater but I don't want to buy it until the summer when I'll actually wear it. Everyone has floppy hats but I'm not sure if one would suit me, might try on one for fun! I love the horse print on this blouse and the pussybow, both are nice details. I love a good animal print whether it be actually animals of spots so this blouse is really ticking all my boxes. It's slightly oversized so works well being tucked into a skirt.

Mega love for the fangs on my ring x

Pleats

Last week I was a bit MIA on the blogging front but I'm back and ready for a blogging filled week. The last few days have been a super busy affair with my interview and 2 consecutive trips to the theatre, one trip to see Frankenstien and another for a discussion on the science behind said play with Brian Cox but more on that (with a talk with Danny Boyle) another day. On Wednesday I had a day of work for interview prep and pub lunch so I decided to wear my new pleated skirt.

You've probably seen this skirt everywhere by now and are sick of it. I first spied it on Jasmine and then Kristabel. I feel in love with the deep burgundy colour, pleats a plenty and granny-like style of it. I think the skirt need careful styling otherwise said granny look becomes all the more apparent hence my addition of chunky boots and denim.

I think I've said this on the blog before but I wish I hadn't bought my DMs in pink and instead have opted for a patent black style. I've been thinking of spray painting them black but I'm not sure how well they'd look. I have spied these patent creepers on ASOS though so I'm kinda tempted to buy them instead of trying out and failing at a DIY job. The blue pair are pretty cool too but probably another case of regre-it-later-colour-choice. Have you seen Jen's customised DMs courtesy of Charlie? I think they're amazing!!!

Busy week ahead of me again x

Smarten up

Did you miss me these past couple of days? I've been so busy since I got back from France I've barely had time to blog. Today I had an interview for a job I really like so fingers crossed. I had to prepare a presentation and do 2 online tests hence my busyness. The interview was in Southampton and I almost didn't even get there thanks to someone jumping in front of a train and delaying everything by hours.

Thought I'd share with you my interview outfit of choice. I don't normally do business smart so when it comes to interview I hate wearing a suit so opt for a plain dress with a boyfriend blazer thrown over the top.

There are plenty of ways to looks smart without having to wear a suit. I threw my Burberry trench on over the top and looked properly business like. For other interviews I've worn a blouse and skirt or smart trousers but I think it's important to throw in a little personality, even if it does just make you stand out a little in a sea of pinstriped dullness. Me being me, the dress has a Peter Pan collar aka my signature accessory at the minute.

Tonight I'm off with the girls to see Frankenstein at the National Theatre. We're super excited because Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller are playing Frankenstein and the creature respectively so it should be awesome!

Still got more snow photos to share x
